The Chapel Programme and Co-curricular Requirements

At Holy Name of Mary College School, faith is the foundation upon which our school is built and, we believe, the predominant influencing factor in our development as compassionate, ethical, aware human beings.  Mindful of this, our school schedule incorporates a twice-weekly chapel period.  During this time, faculty and guest speakers offer insights into topics and issues of significance in the growth of each young woman.  The students are encouraged to reflect on the ideas presented in an attempt to form mature perspectives and an understanding of their place and role in the human community.  Opportunities for community involvement, academic research and projects, and social justice initiatives will emerge from the students themselves and will also be part of the efforts designed to foster awareness and critical thinking in the students.

Designed to work in tandem with our chapel programme, our co-curricular programme is fully integrated into the educational requirements of the school.  Three days a week, students take part in a diverse selection of clubs, arts programmes, or athletics on a rotating basis. The wide range of life skills developed in these activities—from technical and knowledge-based skills to the “soft skills” of relationship building and teamwork—enhance each student’s understanding of her own abilities and her responsibilities as a member of the school community and of the broader social community.

OUR MISSION

The mission of Holy Name of Mary College School is to educate young women to their full potential within the teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith.
