Library

The Holy Name of Mary College School Library is a place of learning and research where students are encouraged to explore the written word in all its many forms: books, journals, and the World Wide Web. The library collection, while still in its nascence, has been selected strategically to support the curriculum and to foster the reading interests of Holy Name of Mary College School students.

The Holy Name of Mary College School Library is comprised of both print and web-based resources, thus making it a library that is always accessible. As you browse this particular site, you will find databases, directories and documentation tools. These can all be accessed by HNMCS students from school and home. All they need is the appropriate log in and password information which will be distributed to students.

Databases: These are journals, magazines, newspapers, books, etc. that are accessed via an internet subscription. While this material is found on the internet, it is not a website. As students grow as researchers, the preferred starting point in universities is with databases.

Directories: These are subject guides, typically organized by major topics and subtopics. A librarian or editor has examined websites on particular topics and has gathered the very best for research purposes.

Documentation: A vital skill for student researchers is the ability to produce a work cited list often times referred to as a bibliography. Holy Name of Mary College School subscribes to Noodletools, which allows students to create Work Cited lists or References lists according to MLA or APA formats.

OUR MISSION

The mission of Holy Name of Mary College School is to educate young women to their full potential within the teachings and traditions of the Catholic faith.
