HNMCS Lends Support to Help Conquer Cancer

HNMCS volunteered its facilities as the first and only pit stop in Mississauga along the 2010 Ride to Conquer Cancer route.

On Saturday, June 12, 2010, 4108 men and women rallied together and embarked on an epic two-day cycling event, journeying over 200 km from Toronto to Niagara Falls, in an effort to raise funds for the 2010 Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefiting the Campbell Family Institute at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Over the course of the two days, riders were supported by hundreds of volunteers and crewmembers. Holy Name of Mary College School was the first pit stop along the 200 km route.

At the stop riders were able to re-hydrate, eat, rest, stretch and receive medical or technical support. HNMCS student and parent volunteers, overseen by the event crew, were on hand to help manage the pit stop, motivate riders and create an energetic and supportive atmosphere.

A total of $16.1 million was raised at this event.
