Students are best served when the use of technology enhances the learning that takes place in the classroom. We embrace the use of technology throughout the curriculum and our broad use of Smart Boards in classrooms recognizes the importance of the role of technology in education. Students become familiar with the use of technology and its many applications beginning in the junior grades. This results in the development of their expertise and competency and their development as self-directed users. Students have full access to our comprehensive technology lab and all teachers incorporate the use of technology in their teaching and assignments. Wireless access to the internet permits the use of our laptops in classrooms and the library as required for scholastic activities.
Learning effective online research skills, including analysing websites for valid academic material and accessing online database searching (such as EBSCO) is critical to the success of our students. Our business department teaches the senior business courses exclusively with the use of laptop, using the most current accounting software materials and access to business websites.
Understanding the pros and cons of social networking provides the students with a deeper understanding of its benefits and risks. This is sound knowledge for today’s savvy internet user.
