A Magical Digital Christmas!

This year's HNMCS Christmas Concert was delivered through the magical Christmas digital waves. The evening was hosted by our shining Student Government’s Clara Dmytryshyn (President), Fayble Shawera (Vice President) and Ashely Pathmanathan (Arts Prefect). It showcased the talents of the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Choirs and the Middle School Ukulele Bands, and featured Middle School drama and art compilations.

The Middle School Choir performed a beautiful version of the classic carol “Do You Hear What I Hear” arranged by Emily Crocker. Art pieces including inspiring Christmas cheer hand painted wood words and stunning Nativity scenes depicting the birth of our Lord. They also rocked their ukuleles calling Santa “Up On the Housetop”.

The Grade 7 and 8 Music classes performed the simple yet powerful “Carol of The Bells”, arranged by Riccardo Spina, accompanied by acrylic and watercolour paintings of Christmas bells and hand painted wood ornaments. The group picked up the beat with their ukuleles to a Christmas favourite, “Jingle Bells".

Students from the Grade 11 Music Class created an original arrangement of “O Holy Night”, filled with beautiful harmonies, that had the birds singing along! And while the Intermediate Choir took us on a magical train ride on the Polar Express, performing a Mark Hayes arrangement of “Believe”, to a backdrop of nutcrackers hand painted by the Grade 7 and 8 art classes, the Senior Choir created the perfect setting, taking us to the night of our Lord’s birth, with a beautiful and peaceful version of Pentatonix’s “Silent Night” leaving listeners wanting more!

And they were certainly in for a treat when members of the Robotics team recited their version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas while reflecting on the team’s activities during the year, that promoted STREAM awareness in our school and local community.

The Grade 5 class worked on a tableaux unit that culminated in their rendition of What Christmas Means to Us! They worked well together and took on all the parts of the show - direction, creation, writing and together came up with a fun version of their very own Christmas Tale!
