Medical Mission Trip – July 2022

The StargazerNews

The HNMCS medical mission trip to San Joaquin, Dominican Republic was from July 3 to 10, 2022. Our students had the opportunity to support the community in the medical clinic by dispensing medicines, helping with door-to-door clinics, food bank kitchen construction project and they even ran a Sunday school.

Accompanied by Ms. Nicoletti, HNMCS Medical Science Leader and the Foundation for Peace Doctors, students prepared for the clinics by sorting and packaging medicines and during the clinics the students supported the doctors as medical runners to the pharmacy.

Hand-in-hand the students worked with the people of San Joaquin to support the construction of a food bank kitchen facility and together with the Foundation for Peace staff, the students learned Dominican/Haitian songs for the Sunday School activities. The HNMCS students demonstrated our core values - respect, compassion, justice and transformation in all the daily activities to support the community of San Joaquin. The faces of the children of San Joaquin lit up with joy as our girls performed a Bible Story of the Good Samaritan.

This was a life-changing journey in which our students served to help the poor and they made a positive impact on many lives. A special thank-you to our entire HNMCS school community for their generosity in donating medicines, hygiene kits, shoes and clothing. This trip was made possible by our students that volunteered to serve the poor.
