Remembrance Day 2019
To commemorate Remembrance Day at HNMCS, grade ten history students and Ms. DiMauro’s music classes worked together to create a ceremony that acknowledged the profound sacrifice that men and women have made for freedom in Canada. Using their knowledge of the events of the First World War, history students created soldier profiles, art displays, and highlighted key contributions made by Canadian Forces.
The students also shared poems and prayers that they wrote to express their gratitude toward all those who we remember on this day. Music students lent their voices in a beautiful and thought-provoking performance of “From a Distance” originally performed by Bette Midler. The ceremony ended with the entire HNMCS community coming together in a moment of silence to reflect on the importance of this day.
