CIS Dance Fest 2020

The 11th annual CIS Ontario Dance Fest was held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at York University in the dance studios, the McLean Performance Studio and the Sandra Faire & Ivan Fecan Theatre, and HNMCS students Caroline Clasper '20, Sara Arciero '23 and Chantelle Wong '21 had the great opportunity to participate in this event. The event is designed for students in Grades 6-12, at CIS Ontario member schools, who are keen to experience dance in a fun and non-competitive environment.

As in previous years, Dance Fest was thrilled to work with top performers, giving students the chance to learn from amazing industry professionals.

During the morning session participants could attend three different workshops. They could select from: Intermediate-Advanced Hip-Hop, Afro-Fusion Samba, Contemporary, Classical Chinese Dance, Bollywood and Musical Theatre. Caroline, Sara and Chantelle participated in Intermediate Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Chinese Classical Dance and Musical Theatre workshops. In the afternoon, schools were invited to bring a short performance or two to share with their peers. Several of the guest dance teachers were invited to provide feedback following the performances.

The girls had an amazing experience. They learned a new routine which they are eager to showcase at school’s annual Spring Café.
