The 2023-2024 Flag Football season quickly arrived at HNMCS. After a great turnout at tryouts the girls were full of excitement for the new season. Unfortunately, the girls season did not get off to the start they had hoped for. The girls dropped their opening games at Havergal (30-20), and BSS (19-12) to start the season. After an 0-2 start the girls regrouped and refocused, they used a week of practice to bond together in hopes to finish the season strong.

In their next game at St. Andrews College, the girls responded with a hard-fought 13-12 overtime win against new rival St. Anne’s. This seemed to spark the girls as they were able to carry their momentum into the middle of October with big wins against Lakefield College School (41-6) and Branksome Hall (13-12). This improved the Stars' record to 3-2 and in position to make the playoffs going into the last day of the regular season.

The last day of the regular season was a daunting task for the girls, having to travel and play a double header against a powerful Crestwood squad. Unfortunately the girls did not get the results we were hoping for.

The team this year on offense is led by Larysa at quarterback providing great leadership, with Sofia and Manuela delivering timely receptions and big kickoff returns. On defense, the unit is led by senior students Jennah and Brianna who have come up with timely interceptions.

Both Middle School and Senior School cross country teams qualified for the championships. The girls persevered through difficult running conditions of windy, rainy, and cold weather by setting personal goals and having fun! Good luck to the runners who are participating at the OFSAA meet in November, including Alexandra B. and Leanora S. for Senior School and Sofia P., Kaia P., Ella K., Elise D. for Middle School.
