The Next Big Thing!
Our Grade 8 worked hard this year on inventing or innovating a product that will work to help achieve the global goals of sustainability. They applied the knowledge they learned in their ‘reach ahead’ ASM Creative Design course and used the amazing resources available in the design lab to produce a prototype of a product that they believed would be the ‘next best thing’! They then created an aesthetically pleasing advertisement to promote their business idea and delivered a persuasive elevator pitch to staff, peers and parents. Every visitor (a.k.a. Shark) was given 'fake money' to invest, and the top 3 finalists then pitched to a panel of 3 judges.
Samantha K, Sofia P, Madeline U and Ayanna S were the four finalists, as they received the most ‘investments’ in their products. Samantha K’s fabulous innovation was victorious with our judging panel.
All of the enterprising students in Grade 8 did an excellent job, particularly as this was their first ever CPT - we are so proud of the girls for what they were able to accomplish!
Integrated Arts (ASM1O) is a Grade 9 credit course offered to our grade 8 students. It integrates two or more of the arts (dance, drama, media arts, music, and visual arts), giving students the opportunity to produce and present integrated artworks created individually, where they demonstrate innovation as they learn and apply concepts, styles, and conventions unique to the various arts and acquire skills that are transferable beyond the classroom.
