Christ and Culture

On Friday, March 26th, the grade 10 classes joined together virtually for their annual Religion Retreat. Centered around “Christ and Culture,” the Grade 10 Religion Course invites students to personalize the Gospel values and social justice principles that guide Catholics in understanding their role in shaping culture as disciples of Jesus.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
- John 13:34-35

This year’s retreat brought all of the grade 10 girls together to share how they have grown in their understanding of the Gospels and teachings of Jesus and what it means to be human, sacred and loved by God. Knowing and understanding these, allows us to better understand Jesus’ call to His disciples to “Love one another.” The day was spent exploring how to live out this call to love, both personally and socially, while examining some of the internal and external factors that may interfere with us living out this call today.

Through a day of prayer, meaningful discussions, and reflective activities, the grade 10s collected items to donate to those in need and wrote cards, notes, and letters with messages of hope, love and gratitude for those both in and outside of our school community. During this time, our grade 10 girls drew on the infinite love of God to share His love with others.
