STEAM Night

The StargazerNews

On December 2, 2021, HNMCS Robotics hosted their very first STEAM Night for middle school students in grades 7 & 8.

The team successfully led the participants in engaging in STEM related activities including driving the robot, making oobleck, constructing catapults out of popsicle sticks, and using their math skills to fill in christmas colouring cards. By participating in making oobleck, students were able to learn about non-newtonian fluid and how the viscosity of the fluid is affected. By constructing the popsicle stick catapults, students explored elastic and kinetic energy. Students were engaged in driving the robot and learning to execute the paths created by the HNMCS Robotics team. Finally, by mentally solving math equations, they were able to fill and colour in Christmas cards.
