Student Life in Middle School

Student Life Council Keeps Students Engaged

Despite the freezing temperatures, HNMCS Middle School school students have weathered the winter months, building forts and giant snowballs and are kicking spring off with a variety of artistic endeavours. Class leaders have worked to plan daily lunch activities and have hosted digital class parties to celebrate holidays. While it has been a year that has looked very different, our Middle School remains a connected community.

This spirit and engagement was present in abundance at the cookie decorating and games evening hosted by the Student Life Council. Students competed to make at least three cookies and the creations were remarkable. From HNMCS pride, to hamburgers and fries and all of the creative nature scenes, the cookies looked (and we are sure), tasted delicious! Once the contest was complete, the girls participated in fun games, including a special Jeopardy game, created by Sofia Merigliano ‘22 that highlighted HNMCS trivia for the Grade 7 classes. Middle School students also had the opportunity to watch a movie together at a grade movie evening.

Empowering Female Voices

Manuela Attardo ‘25, Tabitha Lindsay ‘25 and Sage Wambua ‘25 participated in the National Coalition of Girls Schools (NCGS) and Close Up’s, Empowering Female Voices programme, where they looked critically at the challenges in the world today and worked with students from across the globe to talk about issues impacting their communities and find solutions. Through the completion of a root cause analysis the girls created a project based on three issues of interest to Middle School students and walked them through the process of identifying the challenge and working towards being part of a solution.
