On Thursday, September 14th, we held our Welcome Back BBQ here at the school. This annual event is an opportunity for families - new and old - to come together and meet the incredible faculty and staff at HNMCS. It was wonderful to see so all the familiar faces and many new members of our community!

There was plenty of entertainment hosted by our Student Government. Students and parents thoroughly enjoyed racing through the 95-foot-long inflatable obstacle course. And if that wasn’t enough, there were fun yard games and concession treats. Our students were popping popcorn and twirling the cotton candy for all to enjoy! And of course it wouldn’t be a Welcome Back BBQ without the Cake Walk! Thank you to everyone who donated a cake for this beloved game of musical chairs. The competition was fierce and many were lucky enough to take home a delicious cake!

This year we welcomed the Knights of Columbus of St. Faustina Council who provided catering for the event. Equipped with a highly skilled and organized team of volunteers, they provided a fantastic BBQ meal for 300 members of our community. Everyone enjoyed their choice of beef burger, vegetarian burger or polish sausage with salads and potato chips on the side!

Finally, the evening ended with a sweet surprise visit from the ice cream truck. All families had the opportunity to round off the event with a cool refreshing soft-serve cone! It was a truly wonderful way to welcome back everyone, and we are looking forward to a great year and many more opportunities for our community to come together again.
